The Essex Witch Trails has been running as an event for three years now. The route changes yearly, but is always based in and around Colchester in east Essex. Riders pass through towns connected to the infamous Witch Trials that afflicted the locals residents in the 17th Century. Provided with a booklet and a route, you will go on a narrative ride that is part a quest with checkpoints and part a ride through history.

Each year there is a different prize at the end. Previous editions had t-shirts, caps and musettes for the finishers.

Welcome to the Outer Loop. The first in a series of rides that will explore the remnants of an invasion that never happened…

The first ride is focused on the protective ring that surrounded London, the last bastion of fortification for the metropolis. The section you will ride is called Outer Loop A. Starting in Walthamstow, you will be heading in a north easterly direction along the canals. From there you will hook back round and head into farmlands. Things will turn more intense as you tackle hedgerows and hills. Farm tracks and deep parts of the forest.
